The Challenge:
The aim of this project was to turnaround a distressed warehouse and bring it to industrial standards.
Results:
Upon initial inspection, the warehouse did not have a coherent put-away process and a majority of the products were randomly located. This made it hard for the employees to find products and slowed the picking process as a whole. Thorough analysis of the sales data provided insight on the velocity of the products, therefore allowing us to allocate and slot the products by their demand. We were involved in re-slotting all of the items and updating the new locations into the client’s warehouse management system.
Highlights this client achieved include:
- Implemented a location-based inventory system of around 2000 products
- Optimized picking and put-away processes
- Increased the overall capacity of the warehouse
